The Process Of Treating Water

There are more people that are becoming worried about the water supplies and the quality they provide. It does not matter the water is used for commercial, personal, or industrial reasons. The health and quality of the water should be a high standard for our use.

The myth that water can be totally pure and free is not valid. No matter how many times the water is cleaned, there will always be something in it that may or may not be harmful or dangerous to your health. Within the past ten or twenty years, the contaminants in the water supply have grown. It now includes toxic substances that are shown to kill animals, plants, and even human beings. These toxic substances are known as parasites, Giardia, Campylobacter, Algae, Bacteria, Cryptosporidium, fungus, and viruses. water also carries toxic metals such as lead and copper.

The process of treating water will give the water a reduced or totally absent contamination level on some of the substances. This water will come out much cleaner and safer for drinking.

Processes for treating water are not only for one specific purpose. The water that is cleaned is not only provided for drinking, it also can be used for other venues. Processes for water treatment can also be used to benefit the industrial and commercial avenues for removing any contaminants from the waste water that is being disposed of. This provides water that can go back into the environment to be used again.

The Many Stages Of The process For Water treatment

Three main stages exist for the proper water treatment process. They include the primary stage, the secondary stage, and the tertiary stage.

primary Stage Of Water Processing

This first stage tries to focus on the removal of the larger solids from the water. There are five subcategories under this stage.

1. Pumping the water in and keeping it in one place
2. Screening the water
3. Storing the water
4. Conditioning the water beforehand
5. Chlorinating the water beforehand

The Secondary Stage process

The water treatment in the second stage requires a vast array of techniques. These techniques will remove any finer solid pieces, microorganisms, and many other types of organic and inorganic material that has dissolved in the water. The technique that will be used will be dependant on what is wrong with the water. Listed below are some of the many techniques that are available for water treatment. They include the following:

1. Adjustment of the pH balance
2. Flocculation and grouping of the contaminants
3. removal of the sediment in the water
4. Filtering the water
5. sand filters that provide slow filtering
6. membranes that provide ultra filtration of the water

The Final Stage - TheTertiary Stage

The final stage is also recognized as being the stage of disinfection. This is the last step required to complete the water treatment process. The pathogens that were not removed in the first and second stage are killed by adding disinfectants to the water. chlorine, Chloramines, Ozone, chlorine dioxide, and UV radiation can all be added in this final stage of water treatment. The many types of disinfectants that can be used here are not limited to the ones listed above. It will just have to depend on what needs to be taken out of the water.

My Life with the Sims

My favorite computer game of all-time is "The sims" and I was not surprised at all when I read the news announcing that the game was voted as one of the most popular and best-selling games of all time, based on an online survey of PC gamers.

According to the games distributors, Electronic Arts, the virtual-life sims game has sold over 7 million copies worldwide as of 2002, dislodging Myst as the top-selling computer game of all time. First created by Will Wright and Maxis, The Sims has spawned a number of expansion versions which, if taken into account, would reflect total worldwide sales of The sims series at over 13 million.

Since the game was first issued to the public on February 4, 2000, there have been seven expansion packs that followed as well as a sequel, The sims 2.

What makes the game so appealing is its unique gameplay. Instead of meeting a set of objectives like the great majority of computer games, The sims allows players to engage in a fully interactive environment and the sims characters can make their own choices about everyday living. The challenge to the player is how to best spend the Sims time in a "virtual day." And like real life, the only real objective is how to organize the Sims time and activities to give him maximum happiness and to help him attain his personal goals.

One unique quality of the sims is that, like real people, they also possess a certain amount of free will. This allows them to ignore a player's commands if they wish and instead embark on something that they consider to be more pressing and important, just like real people. For instance, a player may order a Sim to go to the supermarket or visit a friend, but if the Sim is tired and fatigued, it may simply fall asleep instead to restore its energy.

Players also have control over how their Sim character relates with other characters. For instance, they can make the Sim a real jerk who insults, slaps or even attacks other sims, which, just like in real life, often means that they get insulted, slapped around and attacked in return.
